A Minneapolis bridge collapsed into Mississippi River. Eight lanes of one of the country's busiest highways gave way, sending more than 50 cars into a 20-metre free fall. The bridge was declared structurally deficient in 1990. The authority said "structurally deficient" doesn't normally mean the bridge is about to collapse.
Dr Mohamed Haneef left Australia, and was welcomed in India. He blamed Australian authorities victimising him. Australian government later released protected information that the case of cancelled visa was due to an Internet chat room conversation, he also appeared to have used the birth of his daughter as a false pretext to leave Australia quickly. There are also claims in an Indian police dossier that Mohamed Haneef does have links to Al Quida terror organisation. Australian Cadel Evans finished the second place in 2007 Tour de France.
