22 June, 2007802.11n part 2
Continued from yesterday's post, the new 802.11n router is wonderful. Installation and configuration are quite straightforward. Getting the Macs to connect to the 802.11n network is a piece a cake, setting up on a Windows machine is relatively complicated, but achievable. Some of you may remember the Epson AcuLaser C1100N I bought last month. It is connected to the Xtreme N Gigabit Router. As expected, the printer can be accessed wirelessly from both Mac and PC. In my PowerBook, it is shown as via Bonjour technology - Apple's zero configuration networking technology. In Laurent's Windows XP machine, I entered the IP address for it. Perhaps, I can install Bonjour for Windows on his computer. Interesting warning message at the back, And the 802.11n-draft PCI card for Laurent's Windows PC, Next item in my mind? A NAS (Network Attached Storage). Currently I have 3 USB based external hard disks, if I can get the external hard disk connected to Gigabit router instead, I can free some of my USB ports.
