new phone, hello Uniden

Uniden WDECT2355+3
It's not easy to get a new set of cordless telephone with four handsets. Since I moved into this place, I've been having telephone troubles... It was my phone that iiNet once lost the phone connection. Laurent's telephone set has some problem either, his Binatone cordless phone (2 handsets) does not work well in the house. The signal drops from time to time, and there was no way to increase the volume of the handset. Laurent and I both got tired of the Binatone phone, and we decided to get a new phone with 4 handsets.

After some research, I decided to go for Uniden brand. My old Uniden cordless telephone works very well (and it was only running at 900 MHz), and my friends who has Uniden phones are all happy with it. We decided to get a 4 handset version. One for kitchen, one for living, and one each for our offices. It seems to me, 2.4 GHz phones are safe to get, despite all salespeople trying tell me the interference with wireless networking (or to sell me the new 5.6 GHz phones). The fact is, there are channels in 2.4 GHz band, and can be easily changed to avoid interference. Then, there's WDECT technology (Wideband Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) which was an improvement to DECT and runs at 2.4 GHz.

Original I was only looking for WDECT 2315 series and get it up to 4 handsets, but after trying all retail shops, it turned out that most shops have very limited stocks of 3 handsets, and it was very hard to find a shop that carries 4 handsets in a single package. Most of them don't even have the additional handset (WDECT 2305) in stock.

After visiting a few shops, there's one shop that has one stock of Uniden WDECT 2355 + 3, the last one in fact. Since they are offering me a rather nice discount, I simply can't resist the offer and save me time to keep looking.

So, that was the story. The Uniden phone was great, the sound is clear and the volume can be adjusted. BTW, the best feature of this phone is perhaps the built-in intercom. I don't need to call Laurent (which costs me a local call) or walk down to his office just to discuss a few things.
