19 May, 2007complicated story - on the move, part 4
As I mentioned in this entry, they connected to the socket in the downstairs, then I found telephone specialist to relocate it to upstairs where my office is. On the day I had my telephone socket relocated, I requested to have my ADSL relocation. Then, on 9th May which was the ETA date for my ADSL connection, I noticed my telephone lost its dial tone. iiNet gave me something very interesting. According to Telstra's database, the phone number assigned to me is now in another location (a location I have absolutely no connection to). That number was not working at all because something in the exchange was broken. Two days later, Telstra said the problem was rectified but I still didn't have the telephone service at all. It appears to be the whatever item was fixed, but the database still shows my phone number is in someone else's location. According to iiNet, Telstra refused to believe I lived in my current address. In order to rectify this problem, iiNet later relocated the phone to my current address. To make the story short, the phone was working for a period of time between 30 April and 4th May, then on 9th May, I noticed no dial tone, and been told that phone number belongs to another location. Yesterday (18th May), I had the telephone back. Regardless who (iiNet or Telstra) screwed up my telephone service, I will make sure I receive my compensation according to Telecommunications (Customer Service Guarantee) Standard 2000 (No. 2) issued by the Australian Communications and Media Authority. iiNet also has a page describes how the compensation is calculated. And the story about my internet? I am still using Laurent's internet. iiNet has put my ADSL relocation now, and it will take about 10 business days to the ADSL to be active. I think I can only wait for the time being. Related blog entry: Posted by Antony on 19 May 2007 5:57 PM
