two Lithium batteries last 5 weeks

imac_batteries.jpg

I got my iMac on 1st November, it's a great Mac, and I still love it. The iMac comes with Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Keyboard (Bluetooth). Apple provides some nice Energizer e2 Lithium batteries for the Wireless Mighty Mouse.

On Wednesday (6th December), I received following message:

screenshots and comparison to Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical mouse followed

Low Battery Warning

The batteries run a lot faster than I expected. Back in year 2001, I got one of the then state-of-art wireless and optical mouse - Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical. What was so special about that Logitech Coreless MouseMan Optical mouse? It's the first wireless (RF) and Optical Mouse. I always use two Duracell Alkaline batteries for it, and they lasts nearly two months.

It is believed lithium batteries last longer than alkaline batteries. Well, it's not fair to compare Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse (bluetooth and Laser) to Logitech MouseMan Optical (RF and optical censor with LED). Apparently, the newer technology have been using more battery power. Or was that I've been too lazy to switch off the mouse at night or I use a black mouse pad (which results more energy required to see the surface)?
