Naomi Robson announces leaving Today Tonight

Channel Seven's Today Tonight east coast edition's host Naomi Robson announced that she won't host Today Tonight next year.

"I can say unequivocally that just last week the network was telling me that they really wanted me to renew my contract," she said. "It hasn't been an easy decision but it is one I've been thinking about all year because it's my 10th year.

"It had always been my goal to make it 10 (years) and as much as it didn't look like I (was) necessarily going (to) make it sometimes, thankfully I have."

A Seven spokesman said current affairs boss Peter Meakin was yet to decide on a replacement.

But Robson hinted Today Tonight summer host Anna Coren already had the full-time gig.

"I'm sure that Anna Coren will acquit herself fabulously," Robson said. "She is brilliant at what she does."

Robson would not reveal what her new role at Seven would be next year, refusing to comment on whispers she was pitching a daytime talk show to the network.

"I'm talking to the network over the next couple of weeks to see what I'll be doing," she said.
