extremely heavy load
SillyDog701 server has been under extremely high traffic load in the last few days, and the server has been knocked out a few times in the last few days. Rebooting was necessary.
Contacted with my hosting company's tech support team, they said it appeared that I have extremely high load, and the commenting uses a lot of server resource.
Well, SillyDog701 is not that busy. After some search, I noticed a Perl script is using lots of system resource... the comment script. It is likely the down time was caused by spam commenters (bots).
But could spam commenters be so serious? Each day I received about 800-1200 comment spams from all three sections, MozInfo701, MacCentre701, and AntBlog701. Sometimes, search engines are busy crawling...
To cut the story short, I really need to figure out a way to prevent the system resource being abused by comment spams.
