some Web 2.0 effects

Some people call the interactive things such as fading in and fading out Web 2.0, I am not sure about the actual definition, but I will use the term. Apple uses the fade in and fade out effect in Aperture webpage. Firstly, I thought it was either QuickTime movie or Flash, then I realised it was actually standard images and some advanced JavaScript. I simply can't resist not borrowing some to SillyDog701.

One more video clip follows.

Back to 1997, when Netscape Communicator was just released, there was something called Dynamic HTML (DHTML). The trick? Moving layers, show/hide layers.

Today's Web 2.0, still based on similar idea but with more controls. JavaScript has improved over the years, and so does CSS, especially the support of opacity control. Thanks to, they have some nice JavaScript libraries for the web interface.

I decided just to use apply the dynamic interface to one small area of this AntBlog701. (Only the first entry of the index page.) Making it more interesting but not too complicated.

I hope people won't experiment difficulties access AntBlog701 and SillyDog701 Message Centre. For browsers not supporting those dynamic behaviours, the page should look the same as it was.

H.264QuickTime 7These video clips are encoded with state-of-the-art video codec H.264, which delivers stunning quality at remarkably low data rates. QuickTime Player 7 (free) is recommended for watching the video.
