Oprah is not, Savage Garden is out

According to CNN, US television talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has moved to quash rumours about her relationship with her best friend, saying she is not gay. In the August issue of O, the Oprah Magazine, the talk-show host explains that some people misunderstand her close friendship with Gayle King.

"The truth is, if we were gay, we would tell you, because there's nothing wrong with being gay," says King.

Former Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes openly admits he's gay, and married to his boyfriend of two years, Richard Cullen, in London last month. He mentioned on his official website.

"I very rarely make comments about my private life," the singer said.

"On June 19th, 2006, I married my boyfriend of two years, Richard, in a civil partnership ceremony in London. I can honestly say it was the happiest day of my life."

Hayes has been based in the UK for a number of years and earlier this month returned to Australia for a one-off concert at the Sydney Opera House, where he was spotted wearing a wedding ring. (source:

Savage Garden was an Australian pop duo comprised of Darren Hayes (vocals) and Daniel Jones (keyboards, sequencing, and guitar). They hit the world without the record company hype and career-establishing game plan. The first single, I Want You, released in July 1996 reached number two but was followed by consecutive number ones with To the Moon and Back and Truly Madly Deeply. Truly Madly Deeply is a global hit for Savage Garden.

The duo split up in October 2001 after a world tour.

Oprah, you are a little too self-absorbed on this issue!! Why was it necessary to dignify the rumors with a response? You should be too busy focusing on your humanitarian work around the world, not answering rumors about your personal life! Especially since you feel there is nothing wrong with it if you were.
