Previously on Desperate Housewives, Carlos continued serving his jail sentence, Gabrielle valiantly tried to free him. Paul Young returned, and Susan told Paul that she gave money for Zach to Utah to find him. Paul told Mike, and the result? Mike and Susan split up.

Tom and Lynette learn more about their new neighbors, Bree answers a big question, Betty loses something precious and Gabrielle revisits her past when old friends come to town.

Last week on Desperate Housewives, (season 2 episode 6, "I Wish I Could Forget You"):

Things become awkward when Bree breaks out in hives after George kisses her. Dr Goldfine points out that Rex has only been dead two months and that she may be suffering psychosomatic stress. George arranges a weekend at a romantic hotel but, as they check in, she breaks out in hives again. George gives her some antihistamines at dinner and, combined with the wine, has Bree with her guard down. When she wakes up in her bed, he has been watching her for hours. They talk and she asks him to wait for her, but he stuns her by telling her that the day might come where he won't. He goes to leave, but she calls him back to her bed. And now as George sleeps, Bree sits watching over him, coming to terms with what she has just done.

Humiliated by her boss Nina over her baby food-stained clothes, Lynette goes out on a shopping spree for new suits, but when she gets home, Tom is clearly unimpressed with the $900 price tag. She promises to return it, but when she sees the suits worn by the clients she needs to impress, she decides to wear it just for the meeting. Unfortunately, Nina spots that the price tag and rips it off in front of everyone, forcing Lynette to keep the suit. Attempting to keep the peace, Lynette gets Tom a set of amazing new golf clubs. He opposes the idea of indulging themselves, but as soon as he swings a club, he announces that he feels "like a better parent already!"

Gabrielle's new lawyer, David, is shot at by a crazy stalker at the courthouse, but when the gunman throws the weapon and he catches it, the police believe he is the suspect and shoot him. Gabrielle visits him in hospital and learns that he has grown smitten with her, and at Carlos' hearing the next day, he walks out, citing that he can't attempt to free the jailed husband of the woman he loves. She invites David to her house and, clad only in lingerie, suggests they begin an illicit affair. He agrees and begins to kiss her, but she bats him away, pointing out that if he did love her, he would never agree to such a deal, and blackmails him into representing Carlos properly with the threat of a sexual harassment case.

Susan is helping her mother, Sophie, try on her wedding dress, and when Sophie suggests that Susan wear the same dress for her own wedding, Mike pipes up to say that she will probably select her own dress for their eventual wedding, sending Susan into an ecstatic mood. Meanwhile, Paul Young comes home again, acting as if nothing ever happened. Susan and the other wives call the police and Susan suggests they question Mike about Martha's diary, but Mike denies any knowledge of Susan's accusations. Later in private though, he reminds her that, as an ex-con, he would do time for the kidnapping and threats to murder, apart from the fact that Martha's diary mentions blackmailing Susan for burning Edie's house, and to protect them all, they have to leave Paul alone. When Paul comes over to ask Susan about the flyers she made when trying to find Zach, he holds a knife in a threatening way and she confesses to giving Zach money to travel to Utah to find him. Paul tells Mike he thinks Susan is lying about the whereabouts of his son, immediately sending Mike to confront Susan. When he bursts through the door, she is trying on her mother's wedding dress and he forces her to confess that she sent Zach away. Telling her it's over "for good", she chases after him, but he drives away, leaving her sobbing into the middle of the street wearing her mother's wedding dress as her friends come to console her...
