you could drive a person crazy

Thank you Channel Seven! Channel Seven is showing Desperate Housewives in its usual time, despite the Winter Olympics. This is a good sign of respecting regular programme audience.

Tonight on Desperate Housewives:

You Could Drive A Person Crazy

Susan is surprised when she finds out who Edie's new boyfriend is. Meanwhile, Lynette goes back to work, leaving Tom at home in charge of the house, which turns out to be a better plan in theory. Bree's mother-in-law, Phyllis, continues to drive Bree crazy with her melodramatic grieving, and Carlos makes an unusual request of Gabrielle.

Last week on Desperate Housewives:
Leaving Paul stranded in the desert, Mike returns home to find Susan being held hostage by his biological son, Zach. Aiming his gun at Mike's head, Zach is distracted long enough for Susan to tackle him and snatch the gun. Unfortunately, Mike's dog attacks Susan and she trips, harmlessly firing the gun as Zach escapes. Julie overhears Mike telling the police how he doesn't want to press charges. Susan confronts him, and he explains the new information he learned from Paul about Mary Alice's dark side.

Before Bree can begin to deal with the emotional fallout of Rex's death, his over-bearing mother Phyllis arrives for the funeral and promptly sets about reminding Bree how miserable she made her son's life. Meddling in all stages of the funeral preparations, she and Bree have a falling out over a hideous tie she wants her son buried in. Fed up, Bree forbids her from attending the service, but her children later change her mind. With the regular organist sick, Bree asks Betty Applewhite, the former pianist and newest resident of Wisteria Lane, to provide the music. Everything goes smoothly until Bree walks up to the open casket to pay her last respects. There she finds the horrible prep school tie Phyllis had wanted wrapped around Rex's neck. Bree snaps, takes Tom's tie, sits Rex up in front of the entire congregation and changes it, before laying him back down and walking out alone. Thanking Betty, she is told "Us widows have to stick together." Little does Bree know, Betty has a secret. Not only is she not a widow - she has someone chained up in her basement…
