Housewives highest rated show

Last night's Desperate Housewives is again the highest rating show in Australia! 2.2 million viewers watched last night's Desperate Housewives and peaked at 2.4 million between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, Sydney Morning Herald reports.

And last night's encore special screening of Prison Break? Pretty impressive as well. Prison Break last Wednesday attracted an audience of 1.9 million and last night's repeat had more than 959,000 viewers nationally.

Another big show of Seven's? Lost had 2.12 million viewers last Thursday (premiere).

Desperate Housewives attracts 2.2 million viewers (Sydney Morning Herald 7 Feb 2006):

More than 2 million people tuned in to watch the series return of Desperate Housewives last night, indicating the American show would be a hit for the Seven Network again this year.

The US drama attracted an audience of 2.2 million viewers and peaked at 2.4 million between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

That figure made Desperate Housewives the most watched program of the night, followed by Home and Away, Today Tonight, The Great Outdoors and Seven News.

Following Desperate Housewives, Seven repeated the first two episodes of its hit US show Prison Break.

Prison Break last week attracted an audience of 1.9 million and last night's repeat screening drew more than 959,000 viewers nationally.

American island drama Lost returned to Seven last week, with 2.12 million people watching the first episode in the second series.

Seven has chosen to begin airing its major shows ahead of the official ratings survey period, which begins on Sunday, February 12.

With new seasons of House, Medium and Law and Order, plus Australia's Biggest Loser, Ten said it was confident going into the ratings year.

The Nine Network said it was looking forward to the ratings period starting with new local shows including Missing Persons Unit and Clever, and its coverage of the Commonwealth Games in March.
