Yesterday, I got my ADSL 2 connection activated. It was nice to have ADSL 2, the line speed was up to 7616 KB/sec as I only had ADSL modem (Netgear DG814).

Netgear DG814 is a great modem, in order to get full ADSL 2 speed, I was thinking about getting Netgear DG834 modem. However after conversation with iiNet, Netgear modems always has trouble with iiNet's DSLAM. Although Netgear modems/routers do look great.

So I got a D-Link 504T Router Modem instead. It supports ADSL 2 and I had full line speed: 12285 kbps downstream and 1021 kbps upstream. (I live quite close to exchange.) Now, I don't have problem connecting to iiNet's toolbox and a few websites.

Actual internet speed? Depending on the traffic and the server, we know.

Conclusion: Netgear modems are good, but does not work well with iiNet's ADSL2.
