Chinese traitor granted AU permanent visa

London was under terror attack yesterday, and a very sad news in Australia today was a Chinese traitor granted Australian visa.

From News.com.au, [t]he Chen family was delighted by the news and wanted to thank the Australian public for its support, Greens senator Bob Brown said today. Australia is now ashamed of issuing visas to a traitor and his family, AntBlog701 said.

What has former Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin done? He betrayed his own country. He sold top secrets to gamble for AU visa.

What does this tell us?
* Thinking about migrating to Australia? Don't waste your money. All you need to do is simply sell your country, if you happened to have access to top secrets (of your country), and Australian government will welcome you.

Shame on helping traitors and shame on demeaning Australian visa.

Original version of Defector granted visa (News.com.au, July 08, 2005):

FORMER Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin and his family have been granted permanent visas and will stay in Australia.

The Chen family was delighted by the news and wanted to thank the Australian public for its support, Greens senator Bob Brown said today.
"The granting of permanent visas for Chinese diplomat and defector Chen Yonglin and his wife and daughter is due to huge public sentiment which swept in to rescue him," Senator Brown said.

"Chen and his family will be valuable Australian residents. I congratulate him.

"His conscience and his courage have been rewarded by this nation if not its government."

Mr Chen, who abandoned his post at the Chinese consulate-general in Sydney on May 26, had feared for his life if forced to return to China.

He originally sought a protection visa to stay in Australia after his application for political asylum was rejected.

Mr Chen publicly claimed China had a network of 1000 spies operating in Australia.

A spokesman for Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone later confirmed the family had received permanent protection visas.

They were free to live in Australia as permanent residents, he said.

The visas were granted through the normal processes and Senator Vanstone had not intervened in the case, the spokesman said.

The department confirmed the Chens had been granted permanent protection visas.
