“Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story”

Besides Monday night's Desperate Housewives, what else could be more exciting than tonight's movie - Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story - on Channel 9? I remember I watched this movie with Dileep in year 2001. It was a great movie, and it was so nice to watch it again.

We all know about the (original) story Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack a stupid and poor country boy trades the sick family cow for a handful of magic beans. The magic beans grow into an enormous beanstalk that reaches into the clouds. Jack climbs the beanstalk and reached a castle of of a giant. The giant senses Jack's presence and cries, “Fee, fie, fo, fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman!” Apparently, Jack is slightly smarter than then Giant, and he takes the magic harp and enchanted goose back to earth, and chops off the beanstalk... The giant falls and dies.

And the Real Story version is that... there is another world where the Giant (and other giants) live, the Giant is very friendly. But the greedy Jack Robinson steals the magic harp and enchanted goose. Jack's mother and Jack chop off the beanstalk and she kills the Giant. The problem they were cursed. Jack's mother won't die and no man in the Robinson line ever lives past the age of 40. 395 years after the original (thief) Jack, Jack Robinson is to correct his ancestor's fault. ...
