USA for Africa, 20 years
In 1985, “We Are the World” united 45 of the biggest names in American popular music to raise awareness and moneyfor the fight against poverty and the AIDS epidemic in Africa. United Support of Artists for Africa marks the 20th anniversary of the history - making song with a re-release of the original recording. Led by songwriters Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson and producer Quincy Jones, and an all-star choir - including Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Bob Bylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Tina Turner - sings a hopeful message of peace with the proceeds benefiting the stricken continent.
